Now, friends and family can gather together to relish the San Francisco Symphony's claim-to-fame with its annual Chinese New Year celebration on Saturday, February 8. In honor of the "Year of the Horse," the symphony will begin the evening with a pre-concert festival reception. Enjoy lion dancing, Chinese calligraphy, ribbon dancing, tea bars, and "lucky" red envelopes during your attendance. Conductor Lan Shui will also lead a number of musical compositions, including Spring Festival, Voices of Spring, Ambush on All Sides, Carmen, and Er huang followed by a multi-course imperial dinner.
Attendees can purchase tickets through the San Francisco Symphony's website at www.sfsymphony.org. The festival reception will begin in Davies Symphony Hall at 3:00p.m., followed by the concert at 4:00p.m. and the imperial dinner at 6:00p.m. Proceeds from the evening will go toward the symphony’s ongoing education and community programs for Bay Area students.
