Free to the public, the 37th Annual Union Street Festival marks the kick-off for the city's summer street festival season. On June 1-2, 2013, in full swing from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. rain or shine, Union Street is the place to be.
In the heart of Cow Hollow, from Gough Street to Steiner Street, six blocks along Union Street feature 150 artist's stalls. In addition to arts and crafts on display and for sale, there's light entertainment, smooth jazz and musical performances throughout the day. Catch a demo of chefs' favorite recipes and cheer on your favorite team in the tray-carrying waiter's race as they compete for speed with balance. Fashion shows are staged both afternoons of the fair.
What's a street festival without great food? San Francisco has no intention of letting its culinary reputation down. An array of ethnic goodies from food truck vendors will send appetizing aromas of Thai pumpkin curry, chicken kebab, veggie souvlaki, Korean teriyaki, and other tasty treats wafting through the air. Alternatively, order a sit-down meal from a Union Street bistro or bar complete with great people-watching opportunities. Join the fun by hopping on Muni bus number 45 from the Inn at Union Square to Union Street or a quick cab ride.
