Now in its 49th year, the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival is a special celebration that showcases the distinct cultures of Japan and the unique Japanese American communities of San Francisco. The event takes place over two weekends, April 9-10 and April 16-17, in the city’s Japantown neighborhood. Head to Posh Street between Laguna and Fillmore Streets to find the festivities, which will include live music, entertainment, cultural performances, food booths, martial arts demonstrations, and the annual Queen Program. The highlight of the Cherry Blossom Festival is the Grand Parade, which takes place on Sunday, April 17 starting at City Hall and ending in Japantown. You’ll also find special gifts and souvenirs to buy, including authentic Japanese artwork and bonsai.
