San Francisco 49ers Football
See live National Football League action as the resurgent San Francisco 49ers take the field in 2012 for eight home games in historic Candlestick Park. Founded in 1946 as part of the All-American Football Conference (AAFC), the 49ers were the city’s first professional sports team. They joined the NFL in 1950 along with two other former AAFC squads, the Cleveland Browns, and the Baltimore Colts. Since then the 49ers have gone on to become one of the most successful franchises in the NFL, winning five Super Bowls. The quest for a sixth is led by quarterback Alex Smith, wide receiver Michael Crabtree, and tight end Vernon Davis.

Opponents this season include the New York Giants, the Miami Dolphins, and the Arizona Cardinals. The latter has become a bitter rival since the team moved from the National Football Conference’s Eastern Division to the Western Division, which the 49ers have been in since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger.  In 2014, the club will move into a new stadium. So, the chance to experience Niners football in the stadium they’ve called home since 1970 is slipping away faster than running back Frank Gore from an opposing defense. More details, including the 49ers football schedule, team news, ticket, and stadium information can be found at 49ers.com.
