Set in the idyllic and storied Sigmund Stern Grove, the Stern Grove Festival returns in 2014 for its 77th consecutive year. Given to the city in 1931, the small plot of trees and sand dunes known for excellent acoustics was quickly made into a musical venue. The San Francisco Philharmonic played the Grove first in 1932.
