A Unique SF Venue Just for Jazz
The SFJAZZ Center is located in the heart of San Francisco's hip and funky Hayes Valley neighborhood. The building is unique because it was constructed specifically for jazz performances, and is the first of its kind in the country. That means the audience gets to enjoy state-of-the-art sound and awesome views of the performers.
With its location near the Civic Center, which includes City Hall, the War Memorial Opera House, the San Francisco Ballet, and Davies Symphony Hall, the SFJAZZ Center fits right into this cultural district. You'll find lots of great restaurants, bars, and cafes, as well as local clothing boutiques and shops. Stick around the Center and enjoy its own café and retail shop.
Beyond the San Francisco Jazz Festival
SFJAZZ sponsors the annual San Francisco Jazz Festival, held during 10 days in the summer. You don't have to wait for June to experience world-class music, however, because SFJAZZ's concert series is available year-round. There are about 20 performances each month at the Center as well as sponsored performances at venues like Grace Cathedral and Davies Symphony Hall.
Upcoming shows in October include Jorge Drexler, the Robert Glasper Experiment, piano soloist Michel Camilo, and Dorado Schmitt & the Django All-Stars. The SFJAZZ Collective is an ensemble of 8 amazing composers and performers. Each year, they come up with a new repertoire and performance series. Celebrating its 10th year, the Collective is going on tour, but you can catch them at the Miner Auditorium at SFJAZZ October 10 through 13, 2013.
