Civic Center Plaza
Celebrate Earth Day in San Francisco on April 20th. Held at the Civic Center Plaza, Earth Day San Francisco is a fun and free community event designed to enlighten the people of the Greater Bay Area on environmental issues and inspire sustainable practices that celebrate and protect planet Earth. Walk through the Eco Village and Clean Air Zone to experience solar, wind and water energy, talk to experts about the latest in alternative energy technologies and learn about bio-fuels and sustainable living.
A festival of green life and culture, Earth Day San Francisco also presents a cool eco-fashion show, a holistic health area, green films, organic food vendors and cooking demos and do it yourself exhibits. Hear fantastic local bands and DJs all day on the Earth Mother Stage and in the VIP Lounges, including the People Power Band, The Jaunting Martyrs and Shovelman, a beatnik folk superhero strumming a guitar crafted from a shovel.
Walk through the colorful Artist Grove with eco-art that helps clean up the environment and discover the Plastic Planet, a traveling art piece that awakens us to the pollution impacting our oceans. Got kids? Take your green youngsters to the Kid’s Zone, a fun creativity area with hands-on activities, entertainment and unique Earth structures.
