Cable Car Museum San Francisco
No trip to San Francisco is complete without visiting the Cable Car Museum. This charming San Francisco attraction is worth a quick stop for an interesting look at the history of the city’s most famous transportation system. See first-hand the cable spooling around the large spinning wheels and witness the incredible sounds and ground-shaking movement that provides a fascinating look at the mechanism that actually runs the cable system under San Francisco streets. The museum hosts a free walk through tour for adults and children. Established in 1974, the museum features antique cable cars from the 1870s, and a variety of mechanical devices such as grips, track, cable, brake mechanisms and tools, as well as detailed models and a collection of historical photographs.
