Lombard Street was a solution for the property owner, Carl Henry, who designed it for residents to access their properties in 1922. No one knew it would become the frequently sought after destination, as it is today. People from all over the world include this picturesque collector road on their San Francisco travel itinerary. The road is accessible by car or by foot, though for an exceptional experience, the Trolley car from Powell Station is recommended! A common site for tripods and selfie sticks to be used by groups, slow driving cars, and couples photographing themselves, in an attempt to capture the serendipitous landscape and views.
When coming to the Inn at Union Square, let us know you'll be planning to take a trip to see Lombard Street. We would love to help you secure Trolley Passes before they sell out!
