The Golden Gate Bridge is 1.7 miles long, with a main span of 4,200 feet long - and carries about 112,000 vehicles a day on its six-lane roadway. Biking and walking across the bridge is a thrilling experience and offers jaw-dropping views of Downtown, San Francisco Bay and the Bay Area. May 2012 marked the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge!

Biking and Walking the Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful walks and bike rides in the world. Biking across the Golden Gate Bridge is a thrilling experience and the half-hour walk allows you to feel the atmosphere and enjoy amazing views of Downtown and the San Francisco Bay. Cyclists have free access to the East and West sidewalks 24 hours a day. Pedestrians can walk on the East Sidewalk facing San Francisco from 5 am to 6:30 pm. Walk or bike to the Golden Gate National Parks with picturesque trails and vista points on either end.

Golden Gate Bridge Toll -

Tolls are collected in the southbound direction only into San Francisco) on the Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge Toll is $6 for cars and motorcycles and $5 for the FasTrak Toll. Carpool vehicles pay a $3 toll from 5 -9 am and 4-6 pm, weekdays.
