Suggested Walking Tour
The Square
The Inn at Union Square is surrounded by theater, art, music and dance, from the Theater on The Square next door to SFMOMA a ten-minute walk away.
Geary Street
The 1909 Geary Theater at 405 Geary Street, a national historic landmark, is home to the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.), a leading regional theater company. Touring productions of Broadway hits often visit the nearby Golden Gate Theater, Curran Theater, and Orpheum Theater. Visit the Tix Bay Area booth on the east side of Union Square for half-price same day theater tickets.
Geary Street is home to a thriving art gallery scene. Mingle with the artists and the art cognoscenti on First Thursday (of each month) when the galleries stay open late. Thursday must be Art Night, since that's when evening admission to SFMOMA is half-price.
Yerba Center for the Arts
Dance aficionados will want to check the schedule at the nearby Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, set in a lovely urban park at Mission and Third. Visiting companies regularly include Paul Taylor Dance Company, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, and ODC/San Francisco. If you're visiting The Inn in December, ask us for the date of the Dance-Along Nutcracker!
