Museum of Modern Art

California Museum of Modern Art The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), with its ever-changing exhibitions and presentations, appeals to the eyes of any art lover, young and old. Founded in 1935 with a devotion to modern and contemporary art, the moma museum was the first of its kind on the West Coast. San Francisco's Moma Museum now displays over 27,000 pieces, which includes paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs, and a range of design objects.

Located just a short walk from downtown, this landmark building sparks the imagination. The Moma features a dramatic atrium topped by a turret and occulus skylight. Within its walls you can take part in docent tours, video screening, and public programs to learn about modern art. A longtime champion of the most innovative, controversial, and challenging art of each time period, the museum boasts work from both modern masters and future icons.

After you peruse the galleries, stop by the café to enjoy light gourmet fare and pay a visit to The MuseumStore, a shop stocked with art books, design objects, furniture, jewelry, toys, and educational materials.
