Union Square Ice Rink
333 Post St
San Francisco, CA 94102
Mark your calendar for November 7, the highly anticipated date for the opening season of ice skating in Union Square. Bring the kids or a date for a fun-filled activity that announces it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the city. Whether you have to hold hands to stay standing or want to show off your double axel jump-this is a place to have fun by all. Setting this whimsical wintry scene, you’ll see a decorated Christmas tree and the surrounding shopping metropolis of Union Square. The outdoor skating rink will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., with 90-minute skating sessions starting each hour.
You can buy tickets online at http://unionsquareicerink.com, or head to the Ice Rink ticket window, steps from the Inn at Union Square, to get gliding. General admission is $11, children ages 8 and under are admitted for $7, and skate rental is $5 (but feel free to bring your own pair). After you absorb the ambiance of Christmas music and twinkling lights on ice, you can head into Union Square to cross all your holiday shopping off your list.
At San Francisco’s Crown Jewel of Shopping Districts, you’ll find a long list of your favorite retail and department stores, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, and Barneys New York. From Jimmy Choo to the Gap, you can find all this year’s hottest trends at the price point that matches your pockets. Come walk along this fashion-forward corridor, and find plenty of great restaurants along your way, which you’ve earned properly by burning off so many calories at the ice rink.
