Union Square Live 2014You’ll always find interesting things to do in San Francisco. And when you’re staying at the Inn at Union Square, you’ll always find interesting things to do within walking distance, some of which are absolutely free. One of the most accessible is Union Square Live where you can catch all sorts of entertainment, everything from music and theater to dance and circus performances. These shows can be seen six months out of the year, beginning in April and running through October, in Union Square Plaza. Show times are Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. You’re welcome to pop by for a minute or enjoy the entire performance. If it’s the latter, it’s a good idea to bring a portable chair or blanket as seating can be scarce.
There is a lot going on between now and October. In August, some of the acts that will be appearing include City Opera SF, Moonalice, a band comprised of seasoned musicians playing an array of genres, the blues and rock group Crosscut, and Miko Marks, a Mississippi-born, Michigan-raised country singer. During September, you’ll have a chance to dance the tango to the sounds of Redwood Tango Ensemble, do your swing thing courtesy of Stompy Jones, and try out your salsa moves with the help of Vission Latina. And don’t worry if you don’t know any of the steps as there are always lessons given before the party gets started.
